Stewarts Creek High School
Summit High School
In what was a very competitive and high scoring JV matchup, Stewarts Creek scored 2 late goals to come from behind and defeat Summit’s JV team by a score of 4-3.
Stewarts Creek wasted little time in opening the scoring as Courtney Steck scored in the 2nd minute of the game from about 30 yards out with a beautiful shot from the right side that bent to the upper left of the Summit goal after Lauren Hughes played her into some open space just past midfield. After Summit tied the game in the 13th minute, Stewarts Creek went back ahead when Lauren Hughes scored from the right side of the 6 yard box in the 25th minute after Rita Rajasombath found her with a short pass into the box. Summit then scored just before halftime to tie it up 2-2.
In the 2nd half, Stewarts Creek went down 3-2 in 39th minute of the game. With just 5 minutes left to play, Stewarts Creek rallied. The tying goal was scored in the 56th minute by Isis Carico off a rebounded shot in the box. A minute later Kendall Smith scored the game winner with a shot to the upper right corner of goal from outside the 18 after a short cross from Dakota Mitchell.
