The Lady Red Hawks took one on the chin Saturday evening as Clarksville came to the Creek and left with a hard fought 6-2 victory. Clarksville took command early and never yielded the momentum by scoring 3 goals in the first 7 minutes of play. Creek pulled back to 3-1 in the 15th minute when Olivia Marlow played Hannah Opie in behind the Clarksville defense for an easy finish, but Clarksville answered back a minute later to extend their lead back to 3 goals with a 4-1 advantage.
Try as they might, the Lady Red Hawks failed to capitalize on several great opportunities on goal, while Clarksville attacked with surgical precision when in front of the Creek net. Down 6-1 with minutes to play, Kendall Smith found the back of the net from distance off a drop pass from Kaitlyn Marlow to produce the final score line of 6-2.
Stewarts Creek drops to 5-1 on the year and return to play Thursday, September 10th at Riverdale as they look to improve to 2-0 in District 7AAA play.
