Stewarts Creek took the first game of a 3-game series Tuesday night at home in a wild 6-4 victory. Senior Maddux Leebrick got things going with a 2-out 3-run home run to left field to put the Red Hawks up 3-0 in the second. However, the Warriors came screaming back in the 4th inning with a 2-out bases clearing triple to make the score 4-3, Riverdale. Senior Josh Dudley got things going again with two outs in the 4th with a single followed by a RBI double from senior Alex Fernandez to knot the score at 4. In the 5th the Red Hawks broke it open for good on 2-run double from Cooper Newsom, scoring Keenan Saiyasak who had tripled and Bryce Jackson who reached on a fielder’s choice. Austin Wooten pitched five innings, striking out 9 to earn his sixth win of the season. Brett Vondohlen pitched the last two innings, striking out five to earn his third save of the year. Stewarts Creek plays at Riverdale Wednesday night at 6:00.
