The Lady Red Hawks dominated from the opening whistle in Tuesday night’s District 7AAA semifinal matchup against Rockvale. Cruising out to a 5-0 halftime advantage, Creek added four more goals in the second half to end the game by TSSAA mercy rule with 15 minutes left in the game. The victory puts Stewarts Creek into Thursday night’s District final where they will meet Siegel for a 3rd time this season.
Delaney Mitchell opened the scoring for Creek in the 2nd minute of play taking a pass into the box from Dakota Mitchell and beating the Rockvale keeper to the back post for a 1-0 lead. In the 6th minute Kinley Buena scored from the right side of the box after chasing down a loose ball and finishing from a very difficult angle to make it a 2-0 advantage. In the 35th minute Delaney Mitchell scored her 2nd goal of the contest, this time converted an Olivia Marlow ball into the center of the penalty area for the goal and 3-0 lead. In the 37th minute Delaney completed her hat trick by taking a Dakota Mitchell over the top pass from near midfield on the right side that was settled in the box and quickly put past the keeper to make it 4-0. Creek added one more first half goal in the 39th minute when Kinley Buena converted a flicked on pass from Delaney Mitchell past the Rockvale goalie and provided the 5-0 halftime margin.
In the 2nd half it was more of the same for Stewarts Creek. Olivia Marlow scored in the 41st minute when she converted a first touch shot off a perfectly layed off pass from Delaney Mitchell making it 6-0. Delaney Mitchell scored her 4th goal of the game in the 43rd minute, this time heading in a cross from Dakota Mitchell on the right side extending the lead to 7-0. In the 45th minute Kinley Buena finished a Delaney Mitchell lay off pass first time to complete her own hat trick and make it 8-0 Creek. In the 66th minute Delaney Mitchell ended the game with Creek’s 9th goal, and her 5th of the game, converting an Olivia Marlow through ball for the mercy rule goal.
Stewarts Creek allowed only 1 off target shot from Rockvale the entire game as Karli Newton secured a clean sheet behind the back line of Sabrina White with Emma Bowling, Kaydee Evans, Kayla Edde, and Kyla Hawkins.
