Stewarts Creek took control of District 7AAA at the halfway point of the regular season on Thursday night, defeating Siegel 4-0. The Lady Red Hawks move to 8-0 on the season, including 5-0 in district play.
Creek started off slowly, but gained momentum as the game progressed. The first goal didn’t come until the 29th minute when Dakota Mitchell took an Olivia Marlow pass and beat the Stars keeper for the 1-0 lead. In the final minute of the first half Dakota played Kinley Buena in behind the Siegel defense and she converted her chance for the 2-0 halftime advantage. Wasting no time in the 2nd half, Creek scored in the half’s 1st minute when Delaney Mitchell converted a chance set up by Emalee Aguero for a commanding 3-0 lead. Delaney closed out the night’s scoring in the 55th minute, this time making the most of a chance set up by Kinley Buena to make it 4-0.
Karli Newton secured the clean sheet with 3 saves and strong performances in front of her by Sabrina White, Kyla Hawkins, Kayla Edde, Kaydee Evans, and Hannah Opie.
